Rather like an English country house hotel set in one of Britain's most beautiful cities, the Bath Priory Hotel offers a warm welcome and a lovely restaurant.Fine dining is the thing, usually jacket and tie, with smart business folks populating the tables at lunch and sophisticated couples at dinner. Any sense of formality comes from the attention to detail of the food and services - otherwise the air is one of unpretentious enjoyment.The menu is modern British with Mediterranean influences: try the starter of tartare salmon with gazpacho dressing and the main of roasted best end of local, organic lamb with globe artichokes and olive and tarragon sauce. The cheeses are superb. Separate vegetarian menu.
