Dining out doesn't get much hipper than Spoon. Named after multi-starred chef Alain Ducasse's fashionable Paris restaurant, Spoon is designed by mega-designer Philippe Starck and sited in Ian Schrager's tres chic Sanderson hotel. The dining room overlooks the state-of-the-art exhibition cooking area, glass-enclosed wine room, and surreal courtyard garden. Why not sit outside, dine and celeb watch the A-list who are regulars here. The menu is something unique: a mix-and-match list of ingredients that you choose and the chefs prepare toyour taste. So you choose a centrepiece, like pan-seared tuna or spit-roasted veal steak, then add a sauce, say, lemon-grass sauce or tarragon and shallot reduction, then finally add an accompaniment, like herbsalad with fresh coconut or macaroni cheese. The signature dish is ceviche of seabass with Grenobloise condiment and mimosa garnish. Also ideal for a break in between a serious shop, try 'SpoonSum' a lunch menu creating a more casual dining experience, the menu offers a greater choice of small dishes, allowing guests to 'graze' through the menu. The menu offers a variety of soups, salads, pasta, fish, meat and some classics including salt and pepper pan-seared scallops with orange/black pepper sauce and baby spinach. Seriously good wines.
