If you visit Villandry when the bustling food hall is open, you can whet your appetite by roaming past the fabulous fruit, veg, charcuterie and cheeses. The restaurant, however, is a quieter affair, with a modern eclectic menu that changes daily. A recent menu included Roast cod with chorizo mashed potatoes and spinach and Braised rabbit with spring veg and mint. Elegant room, confident cooking, top wine list, desserts that elicit moans of pleasure. All this and brunch, too.
