Swithins Italian branch is housed in an historic old bottling 'plant' which was used by Sandemans up until 1969 to bottle their sherry and port. The crane, installed in 1805, which was used to lower the booze into the vault is listed and has to remain as part of the fixtures of the building. The restaurant is housed in the old cellars and has many original and attractive features. Busy and lively, particularly with the City trade at lunchtime, the menu features lots of classic italian dishes. Grilled steak with pepper sauce is a speciality.What's cooking? Beef carpaccio, artichoke hearts filled with crab meat, taglioni with lobster and crab, mushroom risotto, grilled sirloin with spinach and balsamic vinegar, and a selection of grilled meat from the charcoal grill.
