Full of refugees from day jobs across the river and near some of London's groovier south-of-the-river destinations, The Camel is a fun, buzzing gastropub with an ambitious menu and a party-like atmosphere. Smart modern decor that doesn't interfere with the international sports coverage forms the backdrop to your eating experience. The menu includes dishes like 'Little Eats' of rope-grown mussels with turmeric and chilli-flavoured broth, 'Big Eats' of pan-fried market fish with lentils, olives and aubergine and mango/lime salsa. Drinks menu includes the classic and the silly. Both are good.

Hard by Tower Bridge, The Camel is a good choice for light-hearted business entertaining, birthdays, stags and hens and any other party animals you can think of. The private dining room, the Upstairs Bar, seats up to 40. As downstairs, the decor is quietly smart modern, and the menu can encompass either the adventurous, like spicy tostada of sweet corn, roasted orange potato, black-eyed peas, red cabbage and salsa, or the reliable, like huge burgers with bacon, gruyere, pickles, and salad greens.
