Imagine if the two passions of typical thirtysomethings - eating and home making –were combined in a gorgeous space in one London’s coolest areas? It’s here! Chair is both a Westbourne Grove café-style restaurant and a designer furniture show room in which every table is set with iconic seats. Fancy the plastic Verner Panton? Add it to the bill. Modern ethics shared by most of the fashionable, chatty crowd are catered for with a strictly seasonal, organic Modern British menu. Dressed wild Cornish crab is a typical starter; prime South Downs beef sirloin with bubble and squeak and port sauce a taster of the eat-me mains. Puds are great, and the staff eager to please.

People love being invited to Chair; it’s unique. Invite away if you plan a party of 60 maximum, especially if that party is a birthday, anniversary, get-together or a slightly more formal business lunch or dinner (not that being at Chair feels like work). Eight at most can sit at one table (but which to choose?! The one with the Charles Eames chair or the Arne Jacobsens?). Best thing is, if your guests taking a shining to something, they can take it home. Menu choices are: a la carte, set, drinks only, children’s and canapé menus. Naturally, there’s a groovy bar serving purely organic wines and beers, not forgetting 32 cocktails. It also serves a separate menu. Designer highchairs available. Open seven days a week.
