Of all the restaurants on Tottenham Court Road, silver framed Lal Qila is amongst the very best for Indian cuisine. Cream and yellow walls teamed with wooden floors and affable staff help create a relaxed, inviting room filled most days with local office workers, tourists, and occasionally politicians. Small screens display Indian music videos in each corner. The menu falls roughly into three areas – fresh Bengali fish dishes; the slightly spicier dishes of Goa; and the curries, madras and vindaloos of the North. Excellent though the best-selling chicken tikka masala is, try the green chicken curry for something really special. No wonder Lal Qila’s reputation spans the UK.

Lal Qila welcomes through her traditional doors up to 75 guests at a time, or 40 if you’d prefer to eat with other diners around you. The largest group that can be seated at one table is six. Whatever the size of your party, if it’s a business lunch, Christmas party, birthday or social or family get-together, then the amiable Lal Qila team will do all they can to help your event run as best it can. Group menu choices are a la carte, reduced a la carte, set, canapé and drinks only.
