The further south, the better the BBQ. Now that Bodean's has added a restaurant waaay down in Clapham, you can test that theory for yourself. This bright, funky dining room is like an American diner, only cooler, with formica-topped tables, antler-shaped lamps, and a bunch of tv's so you can watch mysterious North American sports while you dig in. Try starter of crab cake with southern spices, Boston Butt sandwich or great baby back ribs from the UK's first wood-burning smoke house, with coleslaw and corn bread. Bodean's likes parties. If you are looking for a fun, casual venue with a popular American menu, if you want to gather a group for a celebration - 4th of July, anyone?- or for a kids' party, Bodean's is the spot. Also good for a business party or light-hearted launch. No private dining room, but if you were separated you'd miss the buzz. Set menus include fire-kissed jumbo shrimp, main course combo of chicken, baby back ribs and pulled pork, and dessert of apple pie with ice cream. Or parties can be served family style, which will get the conversational ball rolling.

A credit card is required to secure a reservation for groups of 8 persons or more, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person
