Since opening his first Sofra restaurant in Mayfair in 1981, Hüseyin Özer and his teams have built up a solid reputation as purveyors of good Turkish food in attractive, up market spaces. The Exmouth Market branch is no exception. Just as Adem Salci’s tasty menu mixes modern and traditional dishes, so you are encouraged to mix your meze (hot and cold) before moving on to your main meal, whether it be vegetarian, seafood or from the grill. The daily specials are always good too. Try fistikli osmanli kebabi - stewed lamb or chicken cooked in tomato sauce served on smoked aubergine and nuts, or tokat dolma: vine leaves stuffed with minced lamb, rice and dill. A restaurant you can rely on.

Sofra seats a maximum of 80, while a further 32 can, weather permitting, relax outside on cobbled, colourful Exmouth Market. If, however, you’re considering exclusive hire, then you need to guarantee a minimum of 56 guests, and a maximum of 110. Your menu choices are a la carte, set, drinks and children’s (if little ones are coming, there’s a highchair waiting for them). A trendy-looking bar sets the scene for pre/post meal drinks, whether you’re there socially or for business (though if you fancy drinks elsewhere, take your pick from Sofra’s neighbours). Groups are welcome to bring their own entertainment. Window and round tables on request. All smoking. Air-conditioned.
