A basement bar and restaurant, The Boardroom is where you’ll find City workers, mainly regulars in their 30s/40s, relaxing and feeling comfortable. Following a major refurbishment, the colour scheme is a smart pale and dark blue throughout. Bar snacks such as hot & cold sandwiches and wraps are served at lunch, with chips and nachos added for the evening. For a more formal meal, there’s the restaurant where maple wall panels make it clear why the place is called what it is. Ask for a booth, smoking or non-smoking, for guaranteed privacy. From the Modern European a la carte menu we recommend starting with a hearty chicken and bacon terrine, eaten with crunchy toast and a teaspoonful of cranberry chutney, followed by a juicy 8oz chargrilled steak. Desserts and cheeses change daily. Open week days only.

Business lunches, birthdays, get togethers, private parties and stag & hen parties - The Boardroom hosts them all. The restaurant has 45 covers; for an exclusive hire you’d need to have a minimum of 35 guests. If you think your number will be smaller, you could instead hire the lower restaurant area which can seat 22 to 30 diners. Group sizes for reception are, however, much bigger – from 100 to 175 – because the stylish central bar area can be used. Menu options are: a la carte, reduced a la carte, canapé, drinks, and buffet. You can bring your own entertainment or they can organise a karaoke machine or a DJ. Opens at weekends for private bookings.

A credit card is required to secure a reservation, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person
