Just when you thought Battersea didn’t need another gastropub, along comes the fine-looking Greyhound to prove us all wrong. There’s always room for great modern European grub, groovy décor and leather sofas. But the real pulling point is the wine. Over 120 bottles grace the standard wine list, while there’s another 350 from owner Mark Van Der Goot’s (ex-sommelier of The Greenhouse) private cellar. The 20 available by the glass change to suit the seasonal menu. Smoked haddock and potato soup, slow roasted rump of Herdwick (i.e. Lake District) lamb with an open lasagne of pea, cauliflower, sweetbread, and caramel brulee are typically of the Greyhound’s uncomplicated dishes that hit the spot every time.

35 is all The Greyhound can take. How cosy. Groups of ten can sit together with other diners there, but 25 can hire the private dining room where privacy in nice surroundings are guaranteed. Take an original Edwardian leather seat at the bar, order a bottled beer (the list features quality brands from all over the world), chat and enjoy the background music while waiting for your food to arrive. For the connoisseur, there are ales and two types of draught fruit beer. Full choice of menus, from a la carte to drinks only. A children’s menu is offered, but only on Sundays.

This restaurant requires a credit card to secure a reservation for groups of 6 persons or more. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person.
Please be aware that children are not allowed in the bar area.
