Brought to you by the team who created the delightful Medea across the road, Sapore is a different but equally attractive eaterie. The theme here is Italian brasserie, casual but with style, and perfect for ladies who lunch or mates who dine. There's a lovely terrace outside, so pray for sun, while the restaurant inside is set on two floors with a buzzy, relaxed ambience. Family friendly, too. Try starter of tuna carpaccio with asparagus, rocket and Parmesan, pasta of spaghetti with clams, and main course of venison fillet in green peppercorn sauce with roasted butternut squash. Lively waiting staff, great place.

Now, we know that Italian restaurants lend themselves perfectly to group outings, but in this case you can get a whole floor of the restaurant to yourselves and get down. The decor is brasserie Italian, the ambience bright and fun, and service brilliant. Downstairs is the main restaurant, seating up to 40, and upstairs is a room that can be private, seating up to 30, complete with excellent sound system, so parties can occur naturally. The menu is Italian. Try starter of prosciutto with galia melon, first course of risotto with wild mushrooms with herbs and truffle oil, and main course of grilled ribeye steak with roast veg and herbed olive oil. Yummy trad puddings.
