The menu, which changes to reflect seasonal availability, explores both regional and historic Italian cuisine - there are dishes here from the Renaissance! The rooms are kitted out in Italian relics and frescos, wood and wicker furnishings, and warm peachy colours. Try starter of piatto pizzicarello to start, a selection of savoury bits, pasta of ravioli of guinea fowl in thyme sauce, main of venison sausage with cannelli bean puree, and tiramisu. Wines are mainly Italian. Bravo.

Since most Italian dining seems to take place in groups, anyway, Italian is a superb choice for group celebrations, gatherings, and events, and Del Buongustaio, with its charm, warmth, and attention to detail, is top of the list. There is a private area, the Fresco Lounge that seats up to 50, with fab classic Italian decor, more like a living room than a restaurant. The menu is authentic Italian and changes frequently to take advantage of seasonal freshness. Constant winners, however, are the excellent antipasti, like smoked duck with pear and lime salsa, main courses like grilled tuna in lemon, oregano and garlic, and pud of wonderful Italian ice creams. Very enjoyable wine list and fine service.
