Fans of French bourgeois cooking will adore Max Renzland's latest venture - an atmospheric split-level brasserie in a new riverside development in Battersea. The ground floor 1930s bar, it’s warm red walls hung with old menus, opens up to a sunny Provençal yellow restaurant area. Leading the way will be the assured maitre'd Maurice Bernard and the charming Max himself who meet and greet guests while keeping a keen eye on every detail. Whatever you chose from the comforting bistro-style menu - foie gras perhaps, a perfectly grilled Dover sole or Aberdeen Angus steak followed by a pot au chocolat riche - it will be done very, very well. The wine list is a careful selection of 50 whites and reds, most available by the glass.
