The delightfully-named Fitzroy Dolls is the belle of the dining ball at Hotel Russell, a magnificent terracotta Grade 2 listed building close to Covent Garden. A predominance of marble and natural light lend a fresh, airy feel to this traditional dining experience. Grand pillars lead the eye to the room’s focal point; a grand Victorian marble fireplace. A generous menu features an eclectic selection of dishes. You might start with carpaccio of beef showered in pecorino shavings, then move on to a main course of seared yellow fin tuna with pickled vegetable shavings and tender squid noodles. To finish, may we recommend a baked chocolate brownie with marmalade ice cream. Smartly-dressed staff provide a consistently friendly, chatty service. There is a wide selection of cocktails.

For an exclusive hire, Fitzroy Dolls welcomes parties of 70 to 90 for a formal seated meal. Twenty guests can sit around a single table. Menu options? A la carte, several set, and buffet. When it comes to pre and post event drinks, you are pretty much spoilt for choice. The King's Bar serves aperitifs and evening cocktails, while the marginally less grand Benjamin's Bar serves drinks and snacks. However, if you have your eyes set on a far larger event, then the Wharncliffe and Woburn banqueting rooms can accommodate 350 people between them. Hotel Russell has 18 conference and meeting rooms which are all air-conditioned. Children are welcome.
