The sister restaurant of the highly-lauded Painted Heron in Chelsea, this restaurant boasts the same fresh, seasonal, innovative Indian cooking served in smart modern surroundings. Set on a bright Kennington corner, the large airy rooms have the same sophisticated relaxed ambience as the original. You can roam the ever-changing menu with confidence. Try starter of tandoor-roasted pigeon breasts with yoghurt and saffron, main course of scallops in hot and sour Goan curry, veg of yellow lentils with okra, and pud of fig, walnut and almond tart with walnut ice-cream. The wine list is a corker with more than 30 available by the glass. A charming terrace is just right for al fresco dining.

Head chef Yogesh Datta uses fresh, seasonal ingredients to create his very own style of Indian cuisine that's so celebrated it's now been re-exported back to India where it's been a hit, too. Try starter of John Dory in spicy batter with tamarind and grapes chutney, main course of lamb chop biryani, veg of asparagus in green coriander chutney sauce, and pud of cocoanut tart with cocoanut ice cream and chocolate sauce. The wine list is intelligent and broad-ranging and the staff are superb. Groups can take advantage of the lovely terrace in warm weather.
