Tomlins
About
Memorable meals served in a superbly styled Victorian premises, Tomlins is feasibly one of the best restaurants South Of The River. Arranged over three extraordinary floors, it is filled with wooden furniture and panelingcreating an informal, romantic atmosphere - local professionals, artists and families love it, especially in the summer when they can sit outside the front, enjoying the sun. And the food, of course is fab. We have to mention the school dinner specials at £4.95 - comfort food at its best - beforerecommending Yvonne Tomlin's succulent rump of lamb served with fanned new potatoes. For die hard chocoholics the pudding of choice can only be the glorious chocolate cheesecake. Icing on the Tomlins cake is the weekly live jazz and soul. Enjoy.
For £50 you can hire the cosy cocktail bar in the basement for groups of 16 sitting down for a meal, or up to 40 for a less formal bash. Live soul and jazz are played here every Friday night from 9pm. Slightly larger groups are better suited to the function room - a wonderful self-contained space on the first floor. Complete with its own bar and conservatory it's a lovelyspace for a great night out.
