The Market Bar raison d'etre is to provide (yet more) style and sophistication into the working lives of City insurance brokers. Fittingly, the well-designed bar serves shots (and cocktails on request) which can beslammed down while in the comfort of a chaise longue. Leading off from the spacious bar area is a smart restaurant featuring crisp white linen-dressed tables surrounded by seriously elegant high-backed chairs. Keeping the chaps entertained are MTV music channels played through three plasma screens,which also show major sports events as and when. The satisfying Mediterranean/British menu changes every two weeks or so to keep the regulars interested. But it always features the two favourites - filletsteak and bangers 'n' mash. Lovely. Never overcrowded, Market Bar offers the level of relaxed personal service that really only an independent can.

If you're going in a group, make Friday your night of choice because that's when all groups get their second round free - and for groups of 7 or more the restaurant will open for dinner in the evening. Nothing like a good start to the weekend is there? The Market Bar can be exclusively yours for a maximum of 60 for a sit-down event, or 300 for a reception. Smaller groups may prefer to sit next to the original Roman wall which seats a minimum of four (lunch only). A full range of menus is offered as well as a bespoke menu for anyone hosting a fork buffet or an a la carte lunch/dinner. Meetingfacilities include a PA and sound system.

Bookings for this restaurant are available for lunch as it is only the bar that is open in the evenings.
