When you're Anton Edelmann and you've won every award going and brought The Savoy kitchens to dizzying heights of excellence - what's next? The answer is Allium, a new venture for Edelmann that's a return to his culinary roots. This high-end dining room with its luxurious modern decor is the right setting for Chef Patron Edelmann's ambitious European menu. And he has found the perfect partner in Head Chef Peter Woods, a fast-rising star of the kitchen who has already won plaudits at La Tante Claire and the Belvedere. Set in the elegant Dolphin Square complex, a favourite haunt of politicos and establishment celebs, Allium offers fine dining in a modern context. The menu offers intense flavours in dishes like starter of tart with pan-roasted foie gras or oxtail tortellini with celeriac confit and its own jus, main course of rump of lamb with black olive crust, braised neck and confit shoulder with rosemary jus, and pud of orange and chocolate souffle. Wines are a fine match to the food and the service is right on the mark.

With Chef Patron Anton Edelmann at the helm and Head Chef Peter Woods in the kitchen, the modern European menu with its deep, essential flavours, the food will be divine. The private rooms, decorated in up-to-date luxury with a nod to Art Deco style, include the Chichester Room, seating up to 70 or accommodating 100 standing, and the Ansen Room, a much more intimate space accommodating up to 24 seated or 50 standing. These rooms enjoy natural light, but the blackout curtains make them appropriate for daytime launches and business presentations. Party menus include starter of orange-scented roasted figs with glazed goats' cheese, main course of fillet of Scottish beef on horseradish cream with caramelised artichokes, and pudding of pineapple tatin with its own sorbet.
