About

It's out with the old Hogges and in with the new Lanes in E1. Fresh from the experienced hands and heads of ex-Marco Pierre White stalwarts, James Robertson and Hamish Smith, comes a smart no-nonsense restaurant and bar.Lanes knows what it wants, and what it wants is this: to be a viable alternative to the City's most grown-up restaurants. So if you need a place to entertain clients in a formal, fashionable and relaxed environment, this is the place for you. Lanes is serving the ex-Quo Vadis chef's first menu. Essentially French-Italian but with flashes from his home country of New Zealand, it is summed up to perfection in the seared rib-eye braised rib with horseradish potato. Top of our list for desserts is the Cherry parfait with marbled chocolate - an absolute delight. Around 5pm the lounge bar livens up, a fact that might well have something to do with the house bubbly being reduced to £25 from 4pm Monday to Friday. Laid back music, cocktails, bottled beer and a carefully picked wine list complete the premier package.

Business lunches / dinners, Christmas festivities - these are the type of events that Lanes carries off in style. If you're up for the full a la carte menu, then you and up to nine others can make the most of Lanes dining experience. If your group is slightly bigger, then up to 14 can eatfrom a five choice menu in the lower restaurant. Groups of 14 to 30 are offered the privacy of the Board Room (no hire charge), as are canape-style dos of up to 50 (room hire negotiable). The Board Room is not strictly a room, but a raised area separated from the restaurant by a glass and wood floor-to-ceiling wall, and dominated by a pair of large mahogany tables and a lovely leather-topped desk embarking on a second career as a station. Parties of 30+ are best off securing exclusive use of the venue. To give you a clearer idea - Lanes seats a maximum of 80 (a set menu is available for£35 a head), and stands 220. A full wine list is available for all events.Their digestives are well worth a gander too.
Lastly, this is a perfect place for private parties on Saturdays. From drinks only parties to full dining and everything in between - Lanes is highly recommended.

A credit card is required to reserve a table, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person
This restaurant does not have a designated non-smoking section, so they cannot guarantee a non-smoking table reservation.
