Sharpen your chopsticks and prepare for a treat. Inside the shiny Fulham Broadway shopping centre lies a Thai fusion restaurant of rare beauty and charm. It's Zimzun, and its dark elegant wood panelling, spotlit Buddha heads, mood lighting, and palette of natural woodtones will certainlysurprise you, considering its prosaic location. It is elegant, indeed. The host does everything possible to make you feel welcome and cared-for. He'll suggest you abandon the European three-course structure in favour of a main with rice or side dish. Try the phat thai, the crispy mi krop, or the green chicken curry - there are lots of vegetarian choices too. No puds, as that's not authentic. The wine list is well within the affordable range, and the smoothie-type lassas are very nice. Note that smoking is only allowed at the bar, which may be a draw for some who like to taste their food.

What a charming and calming place to gather for celebrations and reunions. The gorgous decor of the restaurant would make any group meal feel special. First gather in the pretty bar area for a valedictory drink and to let your eyes adjust to the chilled-out loveliness of the space, then take your seatat one of the three big wooden tables for twelve, overhung with spotlit ropes of beads and decorated with floating petals and candles. The Thai fusion menu has won lots of fans, particularly dishes like pla murk tod and the vegetarian choices. Wines are well-matched to the spicing and the hostis the genuine article.
