We of the Northern climes may favour cool colours, but in China red is a colour of celebration and luck and happiness. Maybe that's one of the reasons that brightly-decorated China Rendezvous has been attracting a host of loyal customers for years. Or maybe it's the high quality of the Chinese food and the swiftness and attention of the host and waitstaff. Start with a lychee wine aperitif. Then take your time perusing the long, wide menu of dishes from many parts of China. Two perpetual favourites are the crispy aromatic duck and the Taiwanese Stone Pot, although whatever your favourite, you're bound to find an excellent version of it here. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and just trendy enough for this part of town.

With a menu as wide as the China Sea, China Rendezvous is the perfect place to bring your group, safe in the knowledge that all will leave well cared-for and very well fed. The bright red interior with wood and mirrored detailing is smart and cheery enough to be the backdrop to any social event, from a business celebration to a stag or hen extravaganza. Hire the lowerlevel for privacy, seating up to 30 or accommodating up to 50 standing, orhire the entire venue - accommodating up to 60 seated - for a launch or big festivity. The staff are fleet of foot and no-nonsense, and take great care with the details so your group meal or event should be hitch-free. The menu, as we said, has a broad reach, right across China, and includessignature dishes like hot sizzling chicken or deep-fried chilli fish. A delicious canape menu is also available.
