About
Charterhouse is set in a distinctively three-cornered building just north of Smithfield Market with a bit of a multiple-personality thing that's no disorder at all. By day it's a terrifically dependable canteen for Cityworkers who appreciate the excellent food and strangely gorgeous waitstaff. By night it's a very chilled bar/club/restaurant favoured by the young and the cool, who also appreciate the strangely gorgeous waitstaff. Meet in the bar at one of the long tables and gather your friends or amour while youenjoy some truly excellent cocktails or wine from the adventurous wine list and take in the buzzing ambience in the intimate space. Then move on to dine in the first floor dining room, choosing from the eclectic Euro/British menu. Starters include Charter salad of warm goatīs cheese, mixed herbs, seasonal roasted fruit & nuts, afavourite main course is the grilled sirloin steak, herbed butter, chips, roasties or mash & mixed herb salad, although we do like whole Creole prawns, tangy dipping sauce, St. Johnīs bread & mixed herb salad. Then stay on and on, grooving to the music Thursdays through Saturdays and drinking until late. Charterhouse is a real find in a lively corner of the capital.
When you choose Charterhouse for your group meal or big bash, your guests will be thrilled with the venue. Charterhouse's unique wedge-shaped building is a very groovy landmark around here, and that sets the tone for the event - funky, relaxed, informal. This would be great for any kind ofparty at all, from office-leaving to Christmas to pre-wedding blowouts, aswell as being attractive for fashion events and trendy pr launches. The funky modern decor takes advantage of the building's remarkable shape and Victorian features - the upstairs dining room accommodates 40 seated or 100 standing, or the entire venue can hold up to 65 seated or 150 standing. The menu is of the modern British type. The cocktail list is inspired and the wine list quite adventurous. Music is available. All in all, Charterhouse is great.
