This Mayfair restaurant is one of London's jewels. It started winning awards the year it opened and hasn't stopped yet. Head chef Philip Howard has earned his kitchen two Michelin stars - just so you know we know what we're talking about. The dining room is bright and cheery, a modern space with cream and terracotta walls, modern paintings in assertive colours, starched linen table cloths and chairs that are slightly retro in feel, harking back to the days when a chair's first function was to be a comfyplace to sit rather than a nouveau designer's calling card. The kitchenuses only the freshest ingredients, cooking and combining them in ways that make the flavours sing. There are many many dishes to recommend - all beautifully presented as little works of art in themselves. The chefreckons his signature dishes include roasted foie gras with caramelised endive, herb-crusted saddle of lamb, and chocolate fondant with malted milk ice cream. The wine list is award-winning, just to keep the theme going. Probably the service is, as well - it certainly should be.
