Sister of celebrity-restaurants The Ivy, J Sheekey’s and Le Caprice, Daphne’s is an enduringly popular Tuscan-style modern Italian favoured by a diverse clientele, from stars to sophisticated families. The look is rustic glamorous - olive and citrus trees, wicker chairs and fireplaces. Manager Keiran Terry meets and greets regulars by name, while legendary maitre d' Jesus Adorno provides a fine service. Head Chef Lee Streeton, previously of The Ivy, has put together a sumptuous menu cherrypicking the regions of Italy. His signature dish is linguine alla vingole, a heavenly marriage of fine pasta ribbons, clams, chilli, garlic and white wine. But before that try the warm octopus with new potatoes and capers. Exquisite. Seasonal specials are offered weekly, while a set price menu is available for lunch and pre-theatre bookings.

The airy, glass-roof garden room serves as Daphne’s lovely private area for up to 40 seated guests for lunch or dinner. Tables can be configured as you please, for example, two oval tables of 20, or four round tables of ten. To eat, choose from the a la carte or chef’s choice canapés. Vegetarians are well catered for. Up to 12 people can dine together in the main restaurant where the quaint entrance bar serves as the ideal spot for pre and post prandial drinks, though a table for this purpose is usually set up in the garden room itself. An excellent wine list is 85% Italian. No dress code. Family-friendly. In-house florist. Personalised place cards and menus available.

A credit card is required to secure a reservation for groups of 8 persons or more, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £20 per person
