About

When Michael von Hruschka had to give up Birdcage restaurant, there was a moan of sorrow throughout gastronomeland that turned into a sigh of delight at the opening of his MVH in Barnes. The outre decor features a hell-themed bar and heaven-themed dining room, with loads of attention paid to thetelling details. It's a place for trendy grownups to come and enjoy food that is out of this world. You will start with a plate of four or five amuse-bouches, little bits of paradise that set the tone for the meal.Menus change frequently, but could include starter of boudin blanc with truffle brioche and garlic leaves, main coure of roasted lemon sole with beetroot mash and munster asparagus, and puds include rhubarb creme brulee or some perfectly kept stilton with port. The wine list is large and stunning, and Sundays feature roast lamb as well asSunday favourites like eggs Benedict. Ingredients are of the highest order, and the cooking is renowned, and there are even cooking classes if you're inspired to bring a bit of heaven to your own kitchen.

As MVH was one of the premiere openings of its season and as it has continued to draw foodies from all over London and beyond, it is an outrageous, fun place to party but with serious food for serious foodies.Hire the hell-themed bar for small groups up to 15 seated or 28 standing. Even if you hire the entire venue, it will still be a small, select event, as MVH holds just 26 people seated or 60 standing. This would be a great place for sophisticated parties or select launches and business events forfriends and colleagues with a finely-tuned palate and a GSOH. What's cooking?Very modern, very British cooking with French undercurrents. Guests will start with a plate of four or five amuse-bouches, each a bit of paradise. Starters could include assiette of seafood or smoked bonito, saffron and ginger cream soup. Mains could feature duck confit with appenzeller gnocchiand pepperonata, or roasted lemon sole with beetroot mash and munster asparagus, and puds include rhubarb creme brulee or chocolate delice. The staff will work with you to accommodate special requests. The wine list is divine.
